Can I get a grant for the works?
You may be eligible for a grant depending on your circumstances. Your local council will undertake a means test to evaluate your eligibility. DG Accessible Designs can guide you through this process.
If you would like any other cosmetic changes, we can discuss these and let you know the additional costs.
What is a Home Adaptation?
Adaptations usually include changing features of the home to make access more convenient such as widening an entrance, installing an access ramp or stair lift, installing adjustable height kitchen worktops, or replacing a bath with a level access shower.
This is fully dependent on the work required. All costs of work advised by your Occupational Therapist would be met by a grant if you are eligible. DG Accessible Designs will provide a quotation so that you know exactly what to expect and if you have additional cosmetic requirements, such as additional tiling, or lighting, then these can be discussed.
Is VAT payable on Adaptations?
Adaptations are often zero-rated for VAT. To establish eligibility, you will need to submit a self-assessment form. DG Accessible Designs can guide you through this process.
What happens if I don’t qualify for a grant?
If you do not qualify for a grant, we can still offer you the same service, providing you with a detailed quotation for the costs of your adaptation.
Is DG Accessible Designs work guaranteed?
All work is carried by our approved specialist contractors who offer a full 12-month warranty on all works.
Does DG Accessible Designs employ sub-contractors?
DG Accessible Designs does not employ sub-contractors. We prefer to use firms of specialist contractors, who we ensure have both experience and a good reputation for reliving projects on time and within budget for this work. All our specialist contractors are professionally vetted and undergo enhanced DBS checks.
How long will works take?
This is fully dependent on the work required. DG Accessible Designs will provide a programme estimate prior to commencement.
Who designs the adaptation?
DG Accessible Designs design and project manage projects from inception through to completion. We will work with you to ensure that you are completely happy with the designs.
Do I need an OT assessment?
An Occupational Therapist assessment is recommended to ensure that all adaptations proposed are fit for purpose now and in the future. DG Accessible Designs can recommend an Occupational Therapist for an initial assessment.
What accreditations does DG Accessible Designs hold?
Can I obtain references from previous customers or see similar adaptations done by DG Accessible Designs?
